Innovation and Precision: Elevating the Cancer Research and Treatment Center to the Peak of Medical Technology

The Cancer Research and Treatment Center stands as a bastion of hope and medical advancement. Guided by Álvaro Díaz and the CTIC company, it has become a technological benchmark in the fight against this disease. Here, we explore the impact of this project:

Project Name: Cancer Research and Treatment Center
Company: CTIC
Technology Leader: Álvaro Díaz

Project Cimera: Where Technological Precision Translates to Progress and Hope Against Cancer

Assessment

Álvaro Díaz and his IT team took on the challenge of bringing the Luis Carlos Sarmiento center to life—a technological hub for cancer research and treatment.

Their goal was ambitious: to integrate over 65 advanced technologies into an efficient communication network, where XGSPON technology emerged as the most promising solution for its speed and reliability.

Diagnosis and Strategy

To achieve this goal, we outlined key strategies:

  • Specialized training in XGSPON technology.
  • Formation of a multidisciplinary team with expertise in every area needed for execution.
  • Development of a work plan aligned with client requirements, scheduling human resources for each phase, ensuring supplies, and continuously monitoring progress.
  • Proactive communication and documentation of any timeline deviations, with immediate solutions to mitigate impacts.

Action Plan

The implementation was a resounding success. The center was inaugurated within the stipulated timeframe, with a 99% planning efficiency, a 99% resource and material optimization, and a 99% budget adherence. Cost overruns due to delays were negligible.

Products and Services

CTIC contracted cutting-edge technological solutions, including:

  • Implementation and configuration of the XGSPON network.
  • ADTRAN active equipment.
  • Physical FTTX infrastructure and Nexans structured cabling.
  • Accessories, racks, and organizers from Tripp Lite.
  • Energy solutions from Schneider Electric.
  • XGSPON network commissioning service.

XGSPON technology enabled the integration of critical systems, such as security and control, nurse call, BMS automation, ambient sound, Wi-Fi, medical equipment, and electrical, hydrosanitary, HVAC, and audiovisual systems.

We faced an enormous technological challenge integrating more than 25 engineering systems into a telecommunications network. The Cotel team’s skill in establishing a functional transport ring before our data center was complete was crucial. We weren’t fully aware of the magnitude of this challenge at the start, but the skill and foresight of Cotel’s engineers allowed for effective integration and setup of essential systems. This proactive problem-solving ability makes Cotel an indispensable ally in highly complex projects.
